What to Do on the Internet?
13 April 2008, 09:50:51
It's a paradox, the Internet is so vast that often users can become jaded.[copied from Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox) A paradox can be an apparently true statement or group of statements that leads to a contradiction or a situation which defies intuition; or it can be, seemingly opposite, an apparent contradiction that actually expresses a non-dual truth (cf. Koan). Typically, either the statements in question do not really imply the contradiction, the puzzling result is not really a contradiction, or the premises themselves are not all really true or cannot all be true together. The word paradox is often used interchangeably with contradiction. Often, mistakenly, it is used to describe situations that are ironic.]Here, Article Critics presents a selection of links and information about cheap, low cost holidays in Malta. Malta Cruise and Low Cost Flight Destination
18 February 2008, 01:58:31
Cruise ships are including Valletta in Malta as a Mediterranean destination more often as part of an overall itineary, and it's come at a time when the island is seeing record numbers of people visiting for a holiday by air - the combination could lead to 2008 being a record year for Malta holidays.Malta is a small and densely-populated island nation comprising an archipelago of seven islands in the Mediterranean Sea. A country of Southern Europe, Malta lies south of Sicily, east of Tunisia, and north of Libya. The country's official languages are Maltese and English. Most people drive their cars on the left side of the road and sometimes give way to the right at road junctions.Only the three largest islands Malta Island (Malta), Gozo (Ghawdex), and Comino (Kemmuna) are inhabited. Each island has different characteristics and no holiday would be complete without visiting them all. Bus routes are extensive and generally run on-time, people are friendly and the crime rate is low.Tourism makes up a large part of the Maltese economy, although an emerging electronics industry is growing fast. The winter months are often fairly warm with heavy rain at times, while the summer months are hot...

All About the Perfect Fishing Escapade

The Number of Times Tips For Planning A Perfect Fishing Trip A
Liberated Article Has Been Read Is: 18

The Author of This Liberated Article Is: Dan
O'Connor

ARTICLE SUMMARY: Planning a perfect fishing trip isn't as easy as loading
your tackle box into the car and setting off in the direction of water. Here's
some tips on how to plan a sucessful fishing trip.

Tips For Planning A Perfect Fishing Trip

Planning a perfect fishing trip isn't as easy as loading your tackle box into
the car and setting off in the direction of water. You need to really define
what exactly you want in your fishing experience and plan accordingly.

There's lots to consider when planning your trip and even more so if you are
planning a trip with buddies or for your family. Not everyone has the same idea
when it comes to the perfect fishing trip and a little bit of planning can help
make it a trip everyone can enjoy.

Here's some things to consider for your next fishing trip:

Catching That Perfect Fish

Before you can catch the perfect fish you have to decide which species of fish
you want to go for. While some people love trout others might be avid bass
fisherman. Since bass are found in warm waters and trout in cold waters, someone
might be disappointed if you did not consider the type of fish before picking a
location.

Deciding on what type of fish you want to catch narrows down your destinations
for you a bit which can help in further planning. Don't worry though, there's
plenty of places to go no matter which type of fish you are angling for!

Size Or Quantity?

Some anglers like to catch fish after fish after fish. They aren't happy unless
they are reeling them in and size isn't really that important, although there's
always that hope that the next nibble could be a big one. Others are only
interested in catching the big fish in the pond and will sit patiently all day
waiting for him to give a nibble.

While there are many places that offer an opportunity for both types of fishing,
this should be discussed beforehand so that each member of the trip can be sure
they are getting the type of fishing they enjoy.

Fishing Style

One other thing to consider is the method you will use to catch the fish. Will
you be wading into streams? Trolling? Deep sea fishing? Each one is a different
experience and many people have their preference. Make sure your group agrees on
a method of fishing and that the destination you are thinking about offers that
type of fishing.

Cost
As with anything, what you can afford will largely impact what you can get for
your fishing vacation

You need to get together with your group and decide what you can spend. Perhaps
you will have to make some compromises such as sleeping in a tent instead of a
cabin so you can afford a couple days with a good local guide.

The hard part here is getting everyone in the group to agree on how much to
spend and where to put the bulk of the money. One way to save money is to do
your own cooking or have everyone in the group bring a frozen dish along (enough
to feed everyone) and you'll have free meals for several nights.

When planning your trip, don't forget about shower and bathroom facilities -
especially if this is a family trip. If you have opted for camping, the showers
and bathrooms will be community so you will have to share. A cabin on the other
hand will provide some privacy.

So, if you really want a great fishing trip, start by planning just exactly what
you want out of the trip and how much you are willing to spend. Do it right and
you can have the fishing trip of a lifetime.

Provence Virtual Road Trip, France

A Provençal Road Trip - Avignon to the Camargue

Destinations - European DestinationsWritten by Passepartout

Of all the areas of France, Provence is the most irresistible, and Western Provence is one of the most delightful and diverse parts of the region, long popular with tourists for its stunning and colourful landscape, relaxed lifestyle and rich and varied history. Highlights of the region are the Roman cities of Orange , Vaison-la-Romaine , Carpentras and Arles , and the papal city of Avignon, with its brilliant summer festival. Aix-en-Provence is the mini-Paris of the region and was home to Cézanne, for whom the Mont Ste-Victoire was an enduring subject, while St-Rémy and Arles have strong links with Van Gogh. Around the Rhône delta, the Camargue is a unique self-contained region, as different from the rest of Provence as it is from anywhere else in France.
This road trip, from the one of the region’s most charming old towns to the stunning flamingo-filled lagoons of the Camargue, is short in length - about 80km - but each of its stops is worthy of several days of exploration!
It begins in the heart of the Vaucluse region, in the lovely city of Avignon, home of the celebrated Palais des Papes (Popes' Palace) and the famous bridge of Pont St Bénezet (the bridge in the ditty ‘Sur le pont d'Avignon'). It continues to the Roman city of Arles, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, Arles has wonderful churches and some impressive Roman monuments, including an arena which is still used for Provencal-style bullfights today. At Arles, the Rhône divides itself in two arms, forming the unique and Camargue delta. The capital of the Camargue is the seaside resort of Saintes Maries-de-la-Mer, a town with a romantic history and a very strong Romany tradition. Read more...

minister, a role later assumed by many prime ministers in many states.

Australian

There is more to Australia than just the beauty of its wildlife and landscape
though; the land that has a rich cultural history boasts an even richer present
for those who want a taste of life here. The people are friendly and energetic,
and the world of sports is regularly rattled by their characteristic gritty and
aggressive sportsmen; Ian Thorpe, and Leyton Hewitt, are just two examples of
the Aussie sportsmen but we can not forget their team sports either. Top of the
line, is what sums up the land and its people.

Here you will find two great articles celebrating the diverse nature and
adventurous opportunities Australian's enjoy everyday.

Queensland Bareboat Excitement and Adventure

Coastal Barebottom Luxury CruiserFor
the adventurous it is the remoteness, for the romantic it is a private beach,
for the exhausted sitting by the pool with a good book and their favourite
drink. Holidays represent so many different things to a world of different
people. Rarely is there a holiday experience that satisfies the myriad of the
human senses than “bareboat charter” in the Whitsunday Islands situated off
the north east coast of Queensland Australia.

"Bareboat Charter" is a somewhat confusing term. Simply put it is
the hiring of a boat with no crew, that's right, your it.

In times past this style of holiday experience appealed most to the amateur
yachtsman who longed for the wind in his hair and the spray in his face
harnessing the power of nature to reach his destination. Conditions were sparse
and cramped just the way he liked it.

The advent of the modern day power yachts or "motor cruiser" has
changed all that to the point where a complete novice with little to no
experience may also treat himself to this unique holiday. Our adventure began
with the hire of a Coastal46 Cruiser from Anchors Away Bareboat Charters who
work out of Abel Point Marina at Airlie Beach North Queensland.

Sydney Harbour Joys and Touring Tips

Aside from the thrill of going out to see the Sydney Harbour, from a Sydney
local's point of view, there are actually 4 top practical and sure-fire ways to
enjoy Sydney Harbour. The first way to enjoy Sydney Harbour is to just walk
around it. To do this, one has to get down to a train session called Circular
Quay which is right in the CBD on the edge of the water.

Flying Pigs Alarmed at New UK Statistics Authority

The News - Latest NewsWritten by Jack

The new UK Statistics Authority comes into existence today (April Fools Day 2008). It is an independent body, with powers and the obligation to promote, improve, and safeguard official statistics across the UK. Its aim is to rebuild public trust in Government statistics.

There is a general perception that statistical knowledge is all-too-frequently intentionally misused, by finding ways to interpret the data that are favorable to the presenter. A famous saying attributed to Benjamin Disraeli is, "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." And Harvard President Lawrence Lowell wrote in 1909 that statistics, "like veal pies, are good if you know the person that made them, and are sure of the ingredients."

"About time" was the immediate reaction from The Tea Musk Times, "Statistics quoted by politicians and political pressure groups are often heavily weighted in favour of their own prejudices and agendas.

If this new drive for honesty and openness can be really believed on "April Fools Day"... TMT gives its full support and will watch closely how things progress".

The new Publication Hub will list each day's new National Statistics releases from all Government Departments as they are published at 9:30 am daily. There will in each case be an electronic link to the relevant page of each Department's website. The hub will therefore permit direct access to the statistical releases produced by statisticians in Departments, without political commentary. This is an interim version of the UK Statistics Authority's Publication Hub which is currently under development.

War Cost More... a LOT More

The News - Latest Articles

Written by Jack C Tickler

The costs of military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq DURING 2008 are
likely to almost double to £3.3bn.

Armed Forces Minister Bob Ainsworth told the BBC: "The threat
changes... We have to stay ahead of the enemy as much as we can and that's not
cheap."

Liberal Democrat defence spokesman Nick Harvey said: "This clearly
shows how the Iraq war is continuing

to bleed our finances dry, leaving soldiers in Afghanistan overstretched and
under-equipped."

Bullied by Moronic Joomla "Experts"

A Solution for Developing Joomla Templates Using Microsoft FrontPage
Written by Jack
The Reason Why - I Don't Like Being Bullied by Moronic Joomla "Experts"

A couple of weeks ago I posted a question to one of the many Joomla help forums:"Is it possible to develop Joomla templates using Microsoft FrontPage as the main WYSIWYG editor?
Does anyone have any helpful tips or suggestions to help with this project?"

Well, to my dismay I was bombarded with "flame" after "flame" replies in the forum. It seems there's a lot of Joomla designers out there who absolutely HATE the idea of Microsoft, Microsoft FrontPage, HTML table code and (in there esteemed, unenlightened opinion) ANYONE stupid enough to consider building a Joomla template using ANY Microsoft product.

I replied to first person's vile response by explaining that I have been using FP for over twelve years. I know it has limitations and faults. However, it was one of the first programs that allowed web developers to actually see what the web page under development actually looks like while data was being inputted. This speeded up the whole development process and probably aided the growth of the Internet as a whole.

FrontPage was designed to interact with all of the Microsoft Office Programs and that probably accounts for many of the perceived bugs user often come up against.

This (reasonable and polite) comment was met with absolute derision and outright hostility by many of the forum members. Not only did the forum replies become far more abusive, someone also did a bit of research and found my email address. They then began an email spam campaign of such intensity that I had to close the email account down.

So be warned; so called "Joomla Support Forums" can be dangerous places to ask innocent questions about FrontPage, unless you intend to trash the software and anyone using it.

OK... This is MY RESPONSE

The V sign, when the palm is facing toward the person giving the sign, has long been an insulting gesture in England and later in the rest of the United Kingdom, as well as in Ireland and parts of France. It is frequently used to signify defiance (especially to authority), contempt or derision and is often accompanied by the phrase 'fuck off'.

Project: Joomla Template Build Using FrontPage and Other Software

Introduction
Proving a point can work out to be expensive and ultimately produce worthless results. Therefore; this project will only use resources freely available to the author and aim to publish a fully working, interesting and hopefully profitable web site.

1. A new sub domain of http://www.jackchosting.com/ (my reseller account at HostGator) was setup and a default install of Joomla was uploaded to http://www.teamusk.com/ (an unused domain from years ago).
2. The aim of the Tea Musk site is to present controversial headlines of current events. This is actually an old idea, revamped for this project, as it does present some unusual coding problems.
3. Make the site user friendly and allow visitor participation.
4. Reduce maintenance of the site to the absolute minimum.

One Month Later - A Screenshot from The Tea Musk Times

From an idea born out of desperation the Tea Musk web site has turned out to be a good laugh.

The whole project is now live and be viewed here:
Support Forum for Uploading Ripped Headlines This forum enables users to upload their own Ripped Headline image for inclusion in the Tea Musk headline rotation program. This is a free service anyone can use. The Tea Musk support team will help anyone struggling to make a headline image. Just ask; it's free and a lot of fun. Make the headlines that SHOULD have been published! It's FREE so, give it a go!

Tax is ALWAYS Taxing

TAX THEM BACK TO THE STONE AGE

The Curtis LeMay phrase "bomb them back into the Stone Age" implies a fierce attack that utterly destroys its target's infrastructure, forcing its survivors to revert to primitive technology in order to survive.

UK political parties might not use the phrase "tax them back to the Stone Age" in public, but there does seem to be an increasing alliance between the Government and Opposition Parties to use taxation as the ultimate weapon of choice to fight modern social ills. Small time "one issue" pressure groups, PR companies and lobbyists all contribute to the political panic "tax action plan", because not to act or tax is seen as a weakness.

Meanwhile, recent revelations that ONE POINT SEVEN BILLION POUNDS (£1,700,000,000) of taxpayers money has been overpaid to General Practitioners and mostly used to "top-up" personal wages has dropped out of the headlines.

Billion may refer to either of two numbers: 1,000,000,000 (number), one thousand million or 1,000,000,000,000 (number), one million, million. No clear guidance has yet been given regarding which billion has been used in the over payment of GPs.

Researchers have found even primitive man had to pay a high rate of tax on each "kill" brought back to camp, sometimes up to 95% of the meat would be taken from him. Modern man has around 48% of earnings taken either at source or by stealth taxes, but don't worry; politicians are working hard to retrograde your standard of living back to Stone Age levels.

Amalfi: History, Spectacular Scenery and Attractions

Destinations - European Destinations

Written by Passaporto

AmalfiAmalfi
is the main town of the Costiera Amalfitana, the spectacular stretch of
coastline on the southern side of the Sorrentine Peninsula of Italy. The first
view of the town is unforgettable, with its tightly packed pastel-coloured
villas and palaces clinging to the cliffside and steep alleyways and steps that
wind down from the higher part of the town into the fishing port and shingle
beach below. An independent republic from the seventh century until 1075, Amalfi
rivalled Pisa and Genoa for prosperity and maritime importance, and its golden
age is symbolised by its stunning cathedral: its Arab-Norman facade dominates
the Piazza Duomo, the unofficial town centre that is always pulsating with
people. Today it is an important tourist destination together with other towns
on the same coast, and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The Amalfi coast is famed for its production of Limoncello liqueur and
home-made paper used throughout Italy for wedding invitations, visiting cards
and elegant writing paper.

The Amalfi Drive: Salerno, Vietri sul Mare, Maiori and Minori

Destinations - European Destinations

Written by Passaporto

SalernoThe
Amalfi Coast (Costiera Amalfitana) from Sorrento to Salerno is
one of Europe's most beautiful stretches of coastline, and the scenic corniche
road that winds precariously along it, is justly famous as one of the world's
most hair-raising and most scenic motoring experiences.

From the East, the Amalfi Drive begins at Salerno, one of
the most active ports of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The city's historical and cultural
tradition dates back to Roman times, and it was the seat of the oldest
university in Europe, the Schola Medica Salernitana. In more modem times it is
best remembered for the Allied troops landing on its beaches, during the second
world war. Salerno isn't a tourist town, but it's a very sociable and lively
place with plenty of street life and an intriguing choice of eating places, and
makes a good base to explore Mediterranean culture and the fascinating
landscapes of the Amalfi Coast. While in the area, a must-see to the east of
Salerno is Paestum, which is one of the most important archaeological sites in
the county, containing see some of the best preserved Greek ruins, architecture
and monuments.

After leaving Salerno, the Amalfi drive passes through Vietri sul
Mare
, a lovely seaside town famous for its handmade ceramic tiles and
pottery, before reaching the bustling resort of Maiori and the
small picturesque town of Minori.
